Leading the way in Identification and Individualized Instruction Through  Independent and Emergent Thinking
I've seen enough!  I want to nominate my child now.
Special Programs at PaigeAcademy-ECAP
Your child’s days will be filled with learning and exploring through a combination of the regular curriculum (writing, reading, math, science,
social studies, geography and physical education) and the following special activities:
Circle & Sharing Time
Your child will begin each day with circle and sharing time. The class talks about the day ahead, the weather outside, and each
child is given the opportunity to share any news they may have with the class.
Story Time/Spanish
During each part of the day, Ms. Weeks reads stories, enact puppet shows, and teaches the students a selection of basic
Spanish vocabulary words.
Science Starts Early
ECAP Academy has partnered with Exploration Place in Wichita, Kansas to provide the children with a special science program
each month. Additionally, Dr. Sarah Evans from Friends University visits the school periodically throughout the year to
conduct child-friendly science experiments with students. This activity has been designed to engage each child’s natural
curiosity and to help facilitate a love of science.
Savings for Success
Central National Bank has been gracious enough to design this savings program for the children of ECAP Academy. This special
program teaches the class about money and affords each child a practical means of utilizing and solidifying their mathematical
skills. To get the started, Central National Bank deposits $5.00 in the account of each child and you are invited to contribute
your child’s personal savings account balance each month on “Bank Day.”

First Start in Art
During this classroom activity, children learn about the lives and works of a variety of well-known artists, including: Jackson
Pollock, Vincent Van Gogh, and Alexander Calder. At the conclusion of each artist unit, each child produces an original work of
their own using the style of that particular artist.

Monart Art Classes
Monart-Wichita will be conducting monthly art classes with the students at ECAP Academy to stimulate their creative minds
and provide them with the tools and instruction to encourage their artistic talents.

Kid Dreams
Kid Dreams is a mentoring program in which the children are paired up with a professional or an organization from the
community in order to learn about the profession they dream of working toward as they grow up. Most recently, a child at
ECAP Academy whose dream is to be an astronaut had the opportunity to spend a special day of fun and learning with the
people at the Kansas Cosmosphere.
Music in Movement
This is a physical education program presented by music teacher, Elaine Short. The children move and dance to a selection of
fun and exciting music.
Mad Science
ECAP Academy has partnered with the Mad Scientist to conduct additional science programs that allow the children the hands
on experience they enjoy. You never know what these children will be able to do next!

Individual and Group
Reading
Reading is an integral part of the way in which children are able to succeed academically. Therefore, for the children not yet
reading, a portion of the school day is spent working toward becoming independent readers; those who already read
independently, work at perfecting their reading skills.

Cooking Classes
Periodically, the children receive a visit from Chef Franca from Piccadilly Bakery to spend some time with them in the kitchen
whipping up some tasty treats. The children always have such a fun time measuring, cooking, and of course, eating their
“masterpieces.”
Music Matters
Music teacher, Elaine Short, will again be with us to present the children with music class. They learn basic musical concepts
such as beat, rhythm, tempo, and pitch. The children also have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of different
musical instruments.
Earthworks
At ECAP Academy, we believe it is important to learn about and take care of our planet. Therefore, as a service to our
community, the children visit different places to pick up trash, plant flowers, paint murals, etc., throughout the school year.
Snapshots
Snapshots is a special, on-going program that is conducted during the Spring months. The children are given cameras and asked
to take photographs of the things that interest them. The children have their photographs displayed and premierd at the
annual ECAP Academy Art show.
